About the Author: William G. Crook was the author of 13 books and numerous reports in the medical and lay literature. The Yeast Connection Handbook is the eighth in his series of books which deal with the relationship of Candida albicans to many puzzling health disorders. Other titles in his series include The Yeast Connection and Women's Health, The Yeast Connection, The Yeast Connection Cookbook, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and The Yeast Connection, Tired - So Tired! and the Yeast Connection and Yeast Connection Success Stories. For fifteen years he wrote a nationally syndicated health column, "Child Care" (General Features and the Los Angeles Times Syndicates).
Many of his publications have been translated into French, German, Japanese and Norwegian.
Dr. Crook was a popular guest on local, regional, national and international television and radio programs, including Oprah Winfrey, Sally Jessy Raphael, Regis Philbin, The 700 Club, Good Morning Australia, TV Ontario and the BBC.
He addressed professional and lay groups in 39 states, all Canadian provinces, Australia, England, Italy, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand and Venezuela. And he has served as a visiting professor at Ohio State University, and the Universities of California (San Francisco) and Saskatchewan.
Dr. Crook received his medical education and training at the University of Virginia, the Pennsylvania Hospital, Vanderbilt and Johns Hopkins. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Allergy and Immunology and the American Academy of Environmental Medicine. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology, Alpha Omega Alpha and other medical organizations.
Dr. Crook lived in Jackson, Tennessee, with his wife, Betsy, where he practiced medicine for almost 40 years. They had three daughters and four grandchildren.
