Improve Colon Comfort with Coltect™
Submitted by Integrative Therapeutics

Gastrointestinal (GI) health is at the core of overall health; with healthy GI function, other systems—the immune system, the skin, the musculoskeletal system, the cardiovascular system—function more optimally.

Under normal conditions, the epithelial lining of the gastrointestinal tract forms a selectively-permeable membrane that permits the absorption of nutrients from the diet while presenting a barrier against potentially harmful agents. Maintaining optimal structure and function of the intestinal mucosa plays an essential role in supporting overall health and wellness.

Integrative Therapeutics™ has specifically formulated their newest product, Coltect™, to support colon comfort and gastrointestinal health.* Coltect is a unique, entericcoated combination of turmeric (Curcuma longa), green tea (Camellia sinensis), and selenomethionine (a form of selenium).

  • Turmeric: In addition to promoting colon health, turmeric is used as a supportive agent in immune, cellular, vascular, cardiac, and joint health.*

  • Green Tea: Green tea extract contains polyphenols that have been widely studied for their antioxidant properties and ability to promote healthy cell structure and function.*

  • Selenium: Selenium is known to play a vital role as an antioxidant and free radical scavenger in helping to maintain mucosal health in humans.*
One in vitro animal model study has shown that these three ingredients, in combination, appear to be more effective at supporting a healthy cell mediator response in the colon than when administered individually.*1 An enteric-coated combination of turmeric extract, green tea extract, and selenomethionine was studied in a Phase II, open-label clinical trial in 21 individuals. Study participants took 2 tablets twice daily for 8 weeks. Each tablet contained 500 mg turmeric, 250 mg green tea, and 100 mcg selenomethionine. After eight weeks, 14 of 21 individuals (67%) showed improvement in abdominal comfort and stool frequency.2
