Both collagen and HA are Essential for Skin Beauty
The skin is the largest organ in the human body. Maintaining healthy skin dermis, a connective tissue, is vital for youthful appearance because natural and photo-aging processes are tied with the loss of the connective tissue, generating visible aging signs such as wrinkles and fine lines. As both collagen and hyaluronic acid (HA) are essential for the integrity of the dermis, supporting both collagen and HA is crucial. Daily ingestion of BioCell Collagen® helps to counteract these negative consequences.

A Patented Comprehensive Solution
BioCell Collagen® is a patented dietary ingredient offering a unique and comprehensive approach to skin beauty from inside. It is a naturally-occurring matrix of hydrolyzed collagen type II, HA, and chondroitin sulfate, providing multi-layered mechanisms which counteract both natural and photoaging processes in the skin.

First, BioCell Collagen® contains highly absorbable building blocks of the key components of skin dermis, replenishing aging-dependent loss of both collagen and HA. Second, BioCell Collagen® supports the integrity and healthy levels of HA. HA plays an essential role in skin hydration by retaining water in the dermis generating suppleness and turgidity. A bioavailability study in human subjects showed daily ingestion of BioCell Collagen® (1,500 mg) elevated HA levels as much as 60 times at steady state.

Additionally, BioCell Collagen® inhibits HA-degrading enzyme, hyaluronidases, helping maintain the integrity of HA. This is particularly significant against photoaging because chronic UV exposure results in its heightened activity, contributing to dehydration and wrinkle generation.

Human Skin Study: Beauty from within Effects
A published human skin study enrolling 26 women who were undergoing both natural and photoaging processes in the face demonstrated that daily ingestion of BioCell Collagen® (1g for 12 weeks) significantly reduced skin dehydration (-76%) and fine lines/wrinkles (-13%) while enhancing dermal collagen content (3.5%), and blood microcirculation (15%). This outcome strongly suggests that BioCell Collagen® exerts multiple actions in antagonizing skin aging process.

The outcome of this study was intriguing in that collagen content (type I/III) increased in the skin. Together with the fact that hydrolyzed collagen type II stimulates the chondrocytes in the cartilage to produce collagen type II, this finding suggests that BioCell Collagen® can support all major types of collagen, the loss of which is implicated in the aging-associated deterioration of various connective tissues throughout the body.

Concomitant support for joint health
BioCell Collagen® is also a comprehensive joint solution because its composition mirrors that of human cartilage. Over the decade, three human clinical trials demonstrated its safety and efficacy in improving joint discomfort. A recently published clinical trial enrolling 80 subjects suffering from a progressed stage of joint discomfort demonstrated that 71% of the subjects who ingested 2g daily of BioCell Collagen® experienced at least 30% reduction of discomfort, whereas only 30% in the placebo had a similar effect. This outcome confirmed efficacy and safety of BioCell Collagen® which was observed in earlier clinical trials.
