Body-Friendly Liquid Minerals
BY CHRIS D. MELETIS, N.D.

The digestive tracts of Americans are challenged everyday by hard-to-absorb nutrients, which makes even the most pristine organic nutrient sources worthless if they can't be absorbed. When it comes to nourishing your body, the key is to deliver nutrients in a "body friendly" fashion. The human body does not absorb "powder" or dried particles across the intestinal walls. So to better enhance absorption, liquid nutrients are recommended for those who are serious about nourishing their body.

Indeed, the rate of absorption of nutrients can only go as fast as the body's ability to do so will allow. It may help to know that very little food (with the exception of some water, certain ions, and some drugs, such as aspirin and alcohol) actually gets absorbed in the stomach. Absorption does not begin until the stomach's contents are thoroughly liquefied and pass into the duodenum—the first few inches of the small intestine. When healthy and working optimally, the body is capable of breaking down mineral supplements at a sufficient rate and in adequate fashion so as to allow the intestinal tract (where minerals are transferred into the blood stream via the intestinal walls) to absorb them in their proper portions, sustaining the body in a "wellness state."

Under the best of circumstances, the body—comprised of 50-100 trillion cells—can absorb sufficient nutrients to survive. However, should existence be based on merely surviving? Instead, should not the goal be to thrive? As the body ages, digestion and its ability to absorb becomes compromised as a result of diminished stomach acid and decreased digestive enzyme production. Additionally, the use of antacids and acid blockers has clearly been shown to reduce the body's ability to break down food and absorb nutrients, including iron, calcium, and vitamin B12. As we age, our bodies move through a "grape to raisin" scenario, becoming increasingly more dry and wrinkled as circulatory capacity and overall hydration significantly drops. The aging body desires and endeavors to conserve fluid for critical bodily functions. Therefore, allocating and burdening the body with dried nutrients is not a healthy practice. Common sense indicates that liquid vitamins and minerals are the logical choice.

The body's capacity to absorb nutrients can further be enhanced by using ionic minerals. An ionic mineral is an element that has a charge—positive or negative, meaning that it has too many or too few electrons. Its unstable state allows the element to bond readily with water, better enabling the body to absorb minerals and easing their transport across the highly selective cell membranes of the human digestive tract. Also, because ionic minerals are charged, the body has to employ less energy to absorb these minerals. The body assists in this process by further charging ions during the course of the digestive process.

Also, the body absorbs ionic minerals with greater efficacy than colloidal minerals. Because colloids are suspended versus dissolved in liquid, they must be completely digested to be broken down into smaller charged particles for proper absorption. Even after undergoing this process, the body does not use all of the colloid mineral form, just as not all foods eaten are completely used.

The bottom line is you can't benefit from nutrients unless you can absorb them. So to keep your already-overburdened body from working harder than it has to, Trace Minerals LiquiMins contain naturally ionized minerals for full and complete bodily absorption that have a noticeable difference.
