IP-6 with Inositol and Testicular Cancer
Cancer of the testicles most often develops in young men between the ages of 15 to 34. While cancer happening in such young men might seem fairly ominous, testicular cancer is almost always curable if found early. Even when the cancer has spread to other parts of the body (or metastasized) treatment can still be fairly effective.
Men frequently find the presence of testicular cancer themselves, either by chance or during a testicular selfexamination (TSE).
After ruling out the possibility of an infection or other health problems that can also cause these symptoms, cancer is generally suspected. As in most cancers, including testicular cancer, a biopsy (the removal and examination of tissue, cells, or fluids from the living body) is needed to make a definite diagnosis.
However, in the case of suspected testicular cancer the entire affected/suspected testicle must be removed. That's because if a surgeon cuts through the scrotum to remove cancerous tissue for the purposes of a biopsy, the cancer will almost certainly spread to the other testicle. In nearly all cases of suspected cancer, the affected testicle is surgically removed through the groin and small samples are then removed for microscopic examination.
Once the cancer diagnosis is made, blood tests, x-rays and scans are used to determine its extent and stage. A plan of attack—an individualized treatment plan—based on all of these findings is then developed. This plan most often recommends surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy (separately or in combination) to completely eradicate the cancer.
Recently, more and more healthcare practitioners who treat men with testicular cancer are also recommending specific nutritional supplements in these treatment plans. One highly effective cancer killing nutritional supplement that is often included in testicular cancer treatment plans, is IP-6 with Inositol. This all-natural supplement has powerful cancer killing and cancer preventative effects.
THE DISCOVERY OF IP-6 WITH INOSITOL
Researchers at the University of Maryland first discovered the health benefits of the combination of IP-6 with Inositol while studying various plant fibers and cancer cells. The scientists were particularly interested in a certain fiber compound that attacks cancer cells, called Inositol hexaphosphate or IP-6 for short. Inositol, the other half of the IP-6 with Inositol combination, is part of the B vitamin group and has been extensively studied for its ability to boost the immune system.
HOW IP-6 WITH INOSITOL WORKS
When scientists studying this combination used plain IP-6 in the laboratory, good cancer preventative effects and good cancer killing effects happened. When scientists used plain inositol in the laboratory, again, good cancer preventative and cancer killing effects occurred. However, when IP-6 with Inositol was used, powerful cancer killing and cancer preventative effects happened.
Supplemental IP-6 with Inositol breaks down into a substance called IP-3. While IP-3 has more immune stimulation and cancer growth inhibition than IP-6, it's very unstable in the body when taken by itself. However, when IP-6 and Inositol are combined in a patented formula, the results provide the maximum amount of IP-3 and maximum health benefits.
IP-6 WITH INOSITOL AND CANCER
Most cancer drugs work by killing all cells, both cancerous and healthy. However, IP-6 with Inositol affects only cancer cells. Healthy cells exposed to IP-6 with Inositol remain just that, healthy. But when cancer cells are exposed in the laboratory to IP-6 with Inositol, they lose their aggressive nature, stop dividing uncontrollably, and eventually die. IP-6 seems to be able to "tame" cancer cells, turning them back to normal cells.
IP-6 with Inositol also boosts the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, specialized white blood cells with important cancer fighting functions. NK cells are the foot soldiers in the war against disease; they are constantly on the prowl for cancer cells. They are called "natural" killers because they do not need to be told that a cancer cell is present.
While most of the other white blood cells need to be alerted to the dangerous development of cancer, NK cells automatically swing into action. The NK cell binds to its target, aims its weapons, and then delivers a lethal burst of chemicals. The chemicals punch holes in the membrane of the cancer cell and the cell bursts and dies. NK cells kill cancer cells continually and stop their division before they can grow into tumors. NK cells protect us against viruses and other diseases, too.
IP-6 WITH INOSITOL AND TESTICULAR CANCER
To date, IP-6 with Inositol has not yet been studied for its effects in testicular cancer. However, it has been studied with extremely positive results experimentally in prostate cancer, another cancer of the male reproductive system. IP-6 with Inositol has no known drug interactions and can safely be taken during radiation treatment and chemotherapy. In testicular cancer, as in other cancers, IP-6 with Inositol seems to be able to "tame" cancer cells, turning them back to normal cells. If you have testicular cancer, talk to your healthcare practitioner about adding IP-6 with Inositol to your treatment plan. But please remember, nutritional supplements are just that: supplements to food, medication, and treatment. They are intended to enhance and prevent, not replace.
Men can improve their chance of finding a tumor by performing a simple procedure called testicular self-examination once a month. The procedure itself is simple and takes only a few minutes. Instructions on how to perform a TSE can be obtained from the National Cancer Institute TSE
