Product Description: Safecoat Safe Seal is a multi-purpose, waterborne, clear low gloss primer/sealer. It is primarily for highly porous surfaces such as particle board, plywood, processed wood and porous concrete, but works well as an adhesion promoter underneath other Safecoat topcoats. It is also commonly used to reduce toxic outgassing from processed wood such as plywood, particle board, OSB and pressed wood. Safecoat Safe Seal adds water and moisture protection to a variety of surfaces and is virtually odorless on application and odorless once cured.
Doctor recommended, not toxic and waterbased. The Safecoat family of sealers provides premium quality coatings for a wide variety of surfaces. Uniquely designed for optimal air quality and minimal exposure to chemical toxicity. Safecoat formulas are ideally suited for areas in which the health of occupants is of particular concern, including schools, hospitals, homes and offices. Safecoat sealers contain no formaldehyde, ammonia, aromatic hydrocarbon compounds or hazardous air pollutants.

Warnings: Limitations: Unlike conventional sealers, Safecoat sealers are made without formaldehyde preservatives or toxic mildewcides or fungicides. Do not contaminate. Store in airtight containers. Do not use when indoor or surface temperature is below 55°F. Do not apply where product will be immersed in water, such as fountains, pools or below ground area. Do not freeze.
Health Precautions: As with all coatings and sealers, keep container tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not take internally. Always use adequate ventilation. If you are chemically sensitive, always test for personal tolerance.
Limited Liability: Safecoat products are guaranteed not to be defective when properly applied. Liability express or implied is limited to replacement of product or refund of purchase price and does not include liability for labor costs or consequential damages. Variable factors out of manufacturer's control, such as environmental conditions, application techniques, and surface conditions are critical to results obtained. Users are expected to exercise reasonable care to determine suitability of the product for each application. This limited warranty may not be modified or extended by manufacturer's representatives, distributors or dealers of AFM products.

Packaging: White Plastic
Ingredients: VOC Content: Less than 65 grams per liter. This is regulatory voc. For actual VOC content (which is lower), see product data sheet. Non-photochemically reactive.
Composition: Ingredient information is available on product data sheet, which may be obtained from dealer or downloaded at www.afm-safecoat.com.

Suggested Use: Surface Preparation: All surfaces must be clean and free from dirt, dust, grease, wax, oil, silicone, tsp/soap, mill scale, oxidation, loose peeling paint or varnish, or any foreign matter/contaminants. Apply test patches before undertaking large areas to assure good adhesion and lack of surface contamination.
Application: To assist in quick drying/curing, bring adequate ventilation and air flow to the work area. Before using, stir Safecoat Safe Seal thoroughly but without excessive agitation so as to avoid air bubbles. Then apply as is, using a brush, roller, sponge or appropriate spray equipment. Apply in thin coats. For most jobs, reducing this product should not be necessary. Milky appearance, dries clear. As the flexible membrane created by Safe Seal remains slightly tacky even when cured, surfaces treated with Safe Seal should generally be coated with a finish coating.
Coverage: One gallon of Safecoat Safe Seal covers approximately 350 square feet in one coat depending on surface porosity. For best results, this product should not be reduced.
Clean-Up: Clean tools and equipment while still wet with a solution of SafeChoice Super Clean and warm water.
Drying/Curing Time: Under normal conditions, Safecoat Safe Seal dries to touch in one hour or less and can be top-coated (or if the surface is still porous recoated with another coat of Safe Seal) after 2 hours. Normal conditions include a dry surface, access to fresh air flow, moderate humidity, and temperatures between 65-75°F. Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause Safecoat Safe Seal to dry and cure more slowly.
Note: These instructions are intended to be general only and not exhaustive. The applicator should determine which preparation and techniques are best suited to the specific surface. See data sheets for most current information.
