Product Description: People are becoming more and more concerned about the adverse health effects caused by the harmful chemicals found in typical coatings. Prolonged exposure to these toxic chemicals can cause nausea, allergic reactions and environmental illness.
AFM products are different. We have spent the past 15 years working to create products which are safer for human health and which eliminate toxicity to the greatest extent possible, while still providing superior performance. While some products cannot be made completely safe, it is our goal to provide the least toxic formulations available anywhere, allowing you to obtain the quality you need while reducing as much as possible the risk to your health and the environment.
Safecoat WaterShield is a clear, versatile, controlled penetration water repelling sealer which provides an invisible barrier against water and resists oils, grease and similar liquids. It is fast drying, has excellent adhesion, and is easy to apply. In addition to sealing and providing a protective barrier against water migration, it helps to harden, dust proof and control efflorescence in masonry surfaces.
Use On: Porous cementitious materials such as concrete, stucco, brick, block, terrazzo and unglazed tile. Also excellent as a wood sealer.
Non-photochemically reactive. Not toxic, doctor recommended and premium quality. Minimal outgassing; low VOC content. No unnecessary chemicals; very low odor upon application and odor free once cured.

Warnings: Warning: Caution must be used when removing coatings from existing surfaces. Surfaces should be checked for lead content. Sanding may create a dust or dust particles that may contain lead, a hazardous substance. Avoid the creation and breathing of any dust particle. Always wear protective equipment. Breathing or eating lead containing dust or debris can cause health problems, especially in children or pregnant women.
Health Precautions: As with all coatings and sealers, keep container tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not take internally. Always use adequate ventilation. If you are chemically sensitive, always test for personal tolerance.

Additional Info: Limitations: Unlike most conventional sealers, Safecoat is made without formaldehyde preservatives. Do not contaminate. Keep from freezing. Do not use when indoor or surface temperature is below 55 degrees F.
Limited Warranty: Safecoat products are guaranteed not to be defective when applied and used in accordance with instructions. However, liability, whether express or implied, is limited to replacement of product or refund of purchase price and cannot include liability for labor costs or consequential damages. Because of the varying circumstances affecting each job, including environmental factors, possible surfaces and application techniques, and the lack of control we have over such matters, it is the user's responsibility to determine the suitability and safety of the product for any particular application. We particularly recommend that users always test in small inconspicuous areas before application to the entire surface.
Not tested on animals.

Packaging: Aluminum Can
Ingredients: VOC: Less than 200 grams per liter.
Does Not Contain: Formaldehyde or Animal Ingredients.
Suggested Use: Surface Preparation: All surfaces must be clean, dry, free from dirt, dust, loose sand, mildew, efflorescence or any other foreign matter. The pH of the material to be sealed must be as close to neutral as possible, and definitely below 10. If the surface has been acid washed, for example to remove efflorescence, it must be thoroughly clean water rinsed and neutralized. Similarly, once mildew has been removed, for example by washing with chlorinated household bleach, the surface must be thoroughly rinsed with water and all bleach residue removed. Always use care with bleach and acid, and be sure to read and follow all warnings, label instructions and MSDS. Power wash, brush or scrape all surfaces and be sure to have a good, sound substrate before application of Safecoat WaterShield. Repair cracks, holes and repaint concrete block if necessary.
Application: Always use adequate ventilation. Apply with brush, roller, lambswool applicator or low pressure spray. When applying on vertical surfaces, start at the lower level and spray upwards. Flood until Safecoat WaterShield runs to assure complete saturation. Horizontal surfaces to sit for about ten minutes and remove any excess. Try to avoid puddling. Note: Before using, check with water on test areas to be sure there is penetration. If there is none, do not use.
Coverage: One gallon of Safecoat WaterShield covers approximately 250-300 square feet in one coat depending on method of application and surface porosity.
Thinning: No reduction is required.
Clean-Up: Clean tools and equipment with a diluted solution of SafeChoice Super Clean and warm water.
Drying/Curing Time: Under normal conditions, Safecoat WaterShield dries within 2 hours and cures hard in 24 hours. Normal conditions include a clean, dry surface, access to fresh air flow, a dust free environment, moderate humidity, and temperatures above 55 degrees F. Thick application, high humidity, or conditions other than normal will cause Safecoat WaterShield to dry and cure more slowly.
