Curry Better Health with Curcumin
By Gaetano Morello, ND

For centuries, practitioners of Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine have relied on turmeric for its wide range of health benefits. Today, more than 1,300 studies point to curcumin, the compound in turmeric responsible for its distinctive yellow hue, as the power behind the herb. Research shows that curcumin is a potent antioxidant that supports the body's inflammatory response. It also supports healthy heart, liver, lung, and kidney function, as well as a strong immune system and healthy cell proliferation. Yet, for all its benefits, curcumin isn't readily absorbed by the body, which limits its effectiveness. In fact, much of the curcumin we ingest is simply excreted out of the body before it can do any good. What does remain is transformed into less potent metabolites in the digestive tract.

A Water-Dispersible Matrix: The Key to Maximum Absorption
To solve this dilemma, scientists have tried enhancing absorption with piperine and special fats called phospholipids. Some studies have also used large doses to achieve beneficial results. Now, however, an innovative new form of curcumin has been developed that is 27-times more bioavailable than standard curcumin. Known as Theracurmin™, this advanced curcumin is created by finely milling turmeric and then blending it with a vegetable gum derived from the ghatti tree. The result is a unique water-soluble curcumin blend that boosts the amount of curcumin in the blood more effectively than other forms on the market today.

Clinically-Proven Benefits
Clinical trials show that Theracurmin safely and effectively provides a number of benefits. One placebo-controlled study found that it helped protect the liver. Another study of 19 volunteers showed that 900 mg of Theracurmin, taken twice daily, improved overall liver function.

Other research shows that Theracurmin improves both heart health and muscle recovery after exercise. One eight-week trial of 45 postmenopausal women found that combining Theracurmin with regular endurance exercise increased the flexibility of their arteries and improved blood flow.* A second study found that taking Theracurmin both before and after participating in intense exercise reduced muscle fatigue better than a placebo.

Theracurmin may also prove to be the next big thing for those in search of a more youthful appearance. Researchers have found that a daily dose boosted skin moisture. It also improved the texture of skin, as well as the appearance of age spots and wrinkles.
