Natural Research in the News

Researchers analyzed data from a large clinical trial, called the Nurses Health Study, to determine if any nutrients consumed in food and in the form of supplements lowered blood pressure. In an evaluation of over 200,000 women, researchers found that women who consumed over 1000 mcg of folic acid reduced their risk of hypertension (high blood pressure) by up to half, as compared to women who consumed doses lower than 200 mcg daily. High blood pressure is associated with increased risk of stroke and heart disease.
