Moso bags are made from 100% bamboo charcoal and naturally helps to remove odors, bacteria, harmful pollutants, allergens, mold, mildew and moisture. Moso bags are also fragrance free and non toxic.
The making of a Moso Bag
Moso bamboo plants are grown to over 60 feet before being cut down and will completely grow back within 5 years without the need for reseeding. After the bamboo is cut down it is then laid out to dry for two weeks. Once the bamboo has dried it is bundled and placed into a mechanical kiln. The kiln will heat up to 700 degrees C (carbonization begins at 400C). This process is strategically monitored by scientists specialized in bamboo charcoal. After the bamboo cools off it is then broken up and placed into a non woven bag and then into the Moso bag.
How it works
When bamboo turns into bamboo charcoal its surface area will completely change. If you look under a microscope you would see millions of hexagon shaped holes/cavities joined together creating a porous surface structure. The surface of tiny little holes act as a sponge to absorb odors, bacteria, harmful pollutants, mold, mildew and moisture. Once these tiny little holes are filled up, the bamboo charcoal can no longer work at its peak performance. This is when you can put the Moso Bag in the sun. The sunlight will disintegrate the pollutants that are in the tiny holes. The Moso Bag is now able to begin absorbing again. This process can go on for up to two years before you need to purchase a new one. After your Moso Bag has reached its life expectancy, cut the bag open and spread the bamboo charcoal into your plants. The bamboo charcoal will help your plants grow bigger and stronger.
