Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a fat-soluble and water-soluble antioxidant. In cells, the reduced form is able to regenerate antioxidants such as glutathione, vitamin C and vitamin E. The antioxidant effect is excellent for individuals with compromised hepatic function. ALA may increase cellular glucose uptake and studies have demonstrated that ALA taken with L-Carnitine helps to improve memory performance.
