Research shows that ferulic acid (along with caffeic acid and six other phenolic compounds found in purple corn) has demonstrated its ability to decrease lipid peroxidation and increase the activity of the antioxidant enzymes SOD, catalase, and total peroxidase.* Quercetin and Hesperidin are neuroprotective flavonoids found in citrus fruits and have been shown to be effective radioprotectors against gamma-radiation-induced cellular damage in human peripheral blood lymphocytes.
