David Perlmutter
David Perlmutter, M.D. received his M.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine where he was awarded the Leonard G. Rowntree Research Award in 1979. After completing residency training Neurology, also at the University of Miami, Dr. Perlmutter entered private practice in Naples, Florida and received Board Certification in Neurology and Psychiatry in 1987. Dr. Perlmutter has contributed extensively to the world medical literature with publications appearing in such journals as The Journal of Neurosurgery, The Southern Medical Journal, and Archives of Neurology. His latest book, entitled The Better Brain Book (Riverhead Publishers) is now available worldwide. Dr. Perlmutter is recognized internationally as a leader in the field of nutritional influences in neurological disorders. He has been interviewed on many national syndicated radio and television programs including 20/20, The Faith Daniels Program, The 700 Club and Larry King Live. He was awarded the 2002 Linus Pauling Award for his pioneering work in innovative approaches to neurological disorders, and he received the 2002 Denham Harmon Award form the American College for the Advancement in Medicine for his work in advancing the understanding of free radical biochemistry in neurological diseases. In addition to serving as Medical Director for The Perlmutter Health Center, Perlmutter Hyperbaric Centers, and Naples MRI, Dr. Perlmutter is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Holistic Medical Association, the American College for the Advancement of Medicine, the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, the Oxygen Society, the American College of Nutrition, the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine, and serves on the Medical Advisory Board for The Integrative Medical Consult. Dr. Perlmutter, his wife Leize, and children Austin and Reisha live in Naples, Florida where he continues to practice.
