Parasites: Another Word for Body Pollution
by Gloria Gilbère, N.D., D.A.Hom., Ph.D.
When we think of pollution, we think of industrial smoke stacks, automobile exhaust, septic and sewer systems, and oil slicks. We forget, however, when we ingest substances like junk food and soft drinks containing dangerous additives, chemicals like monosodium glutamate (MSG) and aspartame (NutraSweet®), that they are toxic too. According to Russell Blaylock, M.D., these substances are excitotoxins, “added to foods and beverages that literally stimulate neurons to death, causing brain damage of varying degrees.”
There is another form that can no longer be ignored: it’s the toxic pollution created by parasites. These polluters, and their by-products, cause diseases and disorders of varying degrees, including brain symptoms associated with toxic over-stimulation.
A TOXIN BY ANY OTHER NAME …
According to world-renowned parasitologist, Dr. Hermann R. Bueno, “Parasites are the missing diagnosis in the genesis of many chronic health problems, including diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and endocrine (glandular) system. Most would be amazed if they knew the extraordinarily high number of Americans who are unknowingly infected by parasites.” (An estimate of nearly 60 million according to www.wrongdiagnosis.com.)
A parasite is an organism that lives in or on a second organism, called a host, usually causing it some harm. Parasites are dependent on the host for some or all of their nourishment. For example, a tapeworm, a flattened worm that lives in the gastrointestinal tract of mammals, lacks an intestine of its own and must absorb predigested food from the host’s intestines. This food is the tapeworm’s only energy source for growth and reproduction. Parasitism affects most life forms, from bacteria infected by the viruses known as bacteriophages to humans who are subject to more than 400 parasites known to cause disease.
THE GREAT MASQUERADERS
Parasites that live on the inside of the host’s body are known as endoparasites, while those that live on the outer surface are known as ectoparasites. Flatworms (soft-bodied worms, such as tapeworms and flukes) and roundworms (thin, unsegmented worms or nematodes) are endoparasites, usually living in the intestines, lungs, liver, or other internal organs of their hosts. These worms have developed adaptations that enable them to avoid the host’s immune response—a cellular reaction that works to destroy the invader. These adaptations can take the form of a cyst wall or a constantly changing outer surface (thus masquerading themselves), thereby making it difficult for the host’s immune system to target the parasite for attack.
Parasitic infestation can mimic many disorders, specifically those involving a compromised immune system. The symptoms of parasites include, but are not limited to: psoriasis, swollen joints as in certain arthritis-type disorders, fibromyalgia, inability to lose/gain weight, malabsorption, insatiable appetite, food/environmental allergies, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and leaky gut syndrome to name a few.

POINTS OF ATTACK:
Parasites may enter the body via the mouth, skin, eyes, and bottom of the feet. They are mostly found in meat, watercress, feces, contaminated soil, vegetables, and water.
Research confirms parasites are a common denominator in people with AIDS, chronic fatigue syndrome, Candidiasis, fibromyalgia, and many other immune system disorders. Symptoms of parasite infestation may go undetected for many years with no apparent symptoms.

NATURAL INGREDIENTS TO COMBAT COMMON PARASITES
I use and recommend Mount Capra’s Caprasite. This blend is not only beneficial for ridding the body of parasites, but includes the following natural ingredients:
- Mushroom extracts for immune enhancement
- Ginger and slippery elm for restoration of intestinal balance/mucosa
- Wormwood and black walnut extract for multi-system detoxification
- Probiotics for strengthening gut immunity
- Garlic and pau d’Arco to create an intestinal ecology unfriendly to parasites

FIGHTING THE WAR, WINNING THE BATTLE
Since parasites not only feed off our cells and blood, but also thrive in an intestinal environment that houses excessive Candida yeast, which actually encourages their reproduction, it is advisable to first eliminate the source of their “main course,” Candida, then proceed in eradicating the parasites. If parasites are present, there is most likely an abundance of fungal yeast.
Candida and parasite infestations plague one out of two Americans. Performing condition-specific, non-drug detoxifying cleanses for an initial period of 3 months with a regular maintenance cleanse of at least two weeks every six months thereafter is the best insurance for health and longevity. After all, you can’t achieve quality of life carrying around all those uninvited guests that pollute your body and mind.
